Kupang District Government Officially Submits Tilong Assets to LAPAN Science Center

The signing of Tilong Area Minutes of Handover for the construction of Space Science Center was held on Tuesday (10/07). In such event, the signing of the Grant Program between Kupang District Government and LAPAN was also held. The MoUs were signed by the Chairman of LAPAN, Prof. Dr. Thomas Djamaluddin and Regent of Kupang, Ayub Titu Eki at the Office of the Regent of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. Such activities are to recognize LAPAN assets and to record in Accounting Management Information System (SIMAK) of LAPAN.
The Chairman of LAPAN explained the 54,972 square meters land area will be used as a control center of research data derived from Timau National Observatory. Such a place will also be completed with facilities for the public educational purpose, especially the people of Kupang and its vicinity.
In such a series of events, the Chairman of LAPAN wished to again emphasize the cooperation by implementing the cooperation substance in detail. He delivered three subjects that will be prepared by LAPAN to support the development of Timau National Observatory. The subjects are (1) the access road construction, (2) electrical facilities and infrastructure, and (3) communication access.
In order to achieve those targets, LAPAN cooperates with various parties, be it government or universities such as Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), University of Nusa Cendana (Undana), Ahmad Dahlan University, and so on.
The Regent of Kupang really appreciates LAPAN’s effort. With the launching of the Timau National Observatory Headquarters and Science Center in Tilong, the latter can be used as an education center to improve the knowledge of the people of Kupang. It is hoped that Timau National Observatory will have a good impact on the development of the welfare of the people in Kupang.
