LAPAN Cooperates with UI Increasing Innovation

LAPAN and the University of Indonesia (UI) signed the draft of cooperation. Such memorandum of understanding signed by the Chairman of LAPAN, Prof. Dr. Thomas Djamaluddin and the Rector of University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anis at the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Hall of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI, Depok, (11/1). The cooperation between the two institutions is related to education, research, and community service, as well as development and utilization of aeronautics and space science and technology.
The scope of cooperation is related to the main research conducted by LAPAN, including research, development, and utilization of remote sensing technology, space and atmospheric science, and aeronautics technology. In addition, this cooperation also includes capacity building of human resources, exchange of experts, as well as dissemination and scientific publications.
The signing of the cooperation between the two agencies was carried out in the 57th Anniversary of FMIPA UI. In the event was also signed the cooperation agreement between LAPAN with FMIPA and Faculty of Engineering UI.
The cooperation agreement between LAPAN and FMIPA was signed by Deputy Chairman for Remote Sensing, Dr. Orbita Roswintiarti and the Dean of FMIPA UI, Dr. rer.nat. Abdul Haris. The cooperation is related to the development of science and technology of remote sensing data and utilization for monitoring of natural resources and environment. The scope of the cooperation with FMIPA covers the development of acquisition, processing, management, and utilization of remote sensing.
Meanwhile, the cooperation agreement between LAPAN and Faculty of Engineering was signed by the Deputy Chairman for Aeronautics and Space Technology, Dr. Rika Andiarti and the Dean of Faculty of Engineering UI, Hendri Dwi Saptioratri Budiono. The cooperation with Faculty of Engineering is related to the research and development of aeronautics and satellite technology for monitoring of natural resources and environment.
Research and development of aeronautics technology that is the sphere of this cooperation is the design of aircraft, unmanned aircraft, control sub-systems, communications, aerostructures, and Maritime Surveillance System (MSS) or maritime-based monitoring system. In addition, the cooperation also accommodates the development of applications for unmanned aircraft and aeronautics laboratories. The cooperation is also in the research and development of satellite technology as well as the processing and application of satellite data.
Cooperation with the two faculties at UI is in addition to joint research, also includes student guidance and for the implementation of research-based S-2 and S-3 research programs. The cooperation between LAPAN and UI, according to the Dean of FMIPA, is an effort to improve human resources in science and technology to support innovation. With this cooperation, UI makes innovation in the academic field with the master by research and doctor by research education programs.
The Rector of UI added the cooperation is an effort to strengthen the networking and improve the competence of lecturers. The goal is to produce research and innovation products to answer the problems of the nation and state.
