LAPAN cooperates with the Municipality of Manado related to remote sensing data and technology utilization in supporting the development of Manado. The Agreement of such cooperation was signed by the Deputy Chairman for Remote Sensing, Dr. Orbita Roswintiarti and the Mayor of Manado, Dr. GS Vicky Lumentut. The signing was witnessed by the Governor of North Sulawesi, Olly Dondokambey, SE.
Such event took place at the Mayor of Manado Office, Friday (14/07), in a series of Special Plenary Session of the Manado Parliament. The event was held to commemorate the 394th Anniversary of the City of Manado. Also attended the event were the leader of the Manado Parliament, the leader of the Indonesian Army and Police, all regional officials in Manado, and representatives from the partners of Manado Municipality.
This agreement is the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between LAPAN and North Sulawesi Provincial Government which was signed in 2016. Such cooperation is the support and contribution of LAPAN in improving the welfare of the public through local government.
The Mayor and the Deputy Mayor of Manado, in running their government, have ManadoCERDAS program which stands for Cendekia (Scholar), Ekowisata (Ecotourism), Religi (Religion), Daya Saing (Competitiveness), and Sehat Sejahtera (Healthy and Prosperous). In order to reach Manado CERDAS, Manado Municipality built a Data Center and CERDAS Command Center.
Through this cooperation, LAPAN will integrate the Earth Monitoring System built by LAPAN with CERDAS Command Center by Manado Municipality. This is to provide the widest benefit for the people of Manado. The Earth Monitoring System is to be connected via server-to-server, and it will be updated regularly.
In addition to supporting the continuity of the operation of the system and application of remote sensing data, through this cooperation, the competent Civil Apparatus in Manado Municipality will be trained by LAPAN. So they can process such data independently.
